4/13 Newsletter: I-90 Duals
Continuum Wrestling Club – Weekly Newsletter
Announcements
This past weekend, Continuum Wrestling competed at the I-90 Duals — one of the toughest dual meet tournaments in upstate New York. This event consistently brings in high-level competition, including all-star teams made up of some of the best wrestlers from across the state.
We brought our athletes into that environment and competed extremely well.
Our A Team went 3-3 on the weekend and earned a 6th place finish in a very competitive field.
Our Developmental Team battled hard all weekend, picked up multiple dual meet wins, and placed 9th out of 12 teams — which is a HUGE accomplishment considering the level of competition.
As mentioned, many of the teams at this event were built with top talent from across New York, and both of our teams held their own and represented Continuum the right way.
We also had a strong showing in the individual tournament, bringing home multiple champions who earned some awesome custom awards:
1st Place Champions:
Cody Alessi
Antero Encarnacion
Aaliyah Piegon
Amy Erickson
We also had several athletes place 2nd and 3rd, earning well-deserved recognition:
Lawerence Downer
Will Dawson
If I missed anyone, I sincerely apologize — we had a great turnout and a lot to be proud of.
Special Thank You
A huge shoutout to Kate Devoe, who went out of her way to create a beautiful website for our club:
This is a big step forward for us. As a first-year club, we are continuing to grow and build, and having a centralized place for everything we do goes a long way.
We will be using the website to:
Post weekly newsletters
Share competition schedules
Sell merchandise
Provide updates and important information
Thank you again, Kate — your work means a lot to our program.
New Practice Location – Ichabod Crane
This week we officially began hosting practices at Ichabod Crane Middle School, and it was a great start.
We were able to partner with the school to provide more convenient training opportunities for families, and we’re excited to continue building this relationship. Ichabod Crane is a growing program in Section 2 Division 2, and this past season they made history by sending three wrestlers to the New York State Championships.
Even more special — our very own Cody Alessi became the first state finalist in school history.
This is what it’s all about — club programs and school programs growing together and pushing each other forward.
The feedback from families has been very positive, especially with the more convenient location compared to Electric City. With that being said, we will continue working to provide as many training opportunities as possible across both locations.
Youth Program Coming Soon
With the added mat space and training times, we are now looking to launch our Youth Program.
If you know any younger athletes who are interested in wrestling — whether they’re just starting or already competing — and you believe they would be a good fit for Continuum, please have them reach out to Coach El.
We’re excited to start building from the ground up.
Practice Schedule
For the most up-to-date schedule, please refer to our website:

Weekly Mindset Adjustment
This week’s focus is on one simple truth:
Tough competition builds tough competitors.
At Continuum, we want to be forged in the fire.
The only way to truly grow in this sport is to test yourself against high-level competition. When you step onto the mat against the best, two things happen — your strengths are reinforced, and your weaknesses are exposed. Both are necessary if your goal is to improve.
We are not here to be average. We are here to become the best — and in order to do that, we have to be willing to compete with the best.
Wrestling demands mental toughness, grit, and a true desire to win. It’s not easy, and it’s not supposed to be. The challenges these athletes face on the mat are what shape them into stronger individuals off the mat.
To our parents — your role in this journey is just as important.
Your support, encouragement, and consistency make a real difference. Whether it’s getting them to practice, helping them stay disciplined, or simply being there after a tough loss or a big win — it all matters more than you may realize.
A strong support system can be the difference in a child’s athletic journey.
Let’s continue to push forward together — athletes, coaches, and families — and keep building something special.
