Meet our coaches

  • Coach El is the founder of Continuum Wrestling Club and a lifelong competitor in combat sports.

    As a high school wrestler, he reached the state finals before continuing his career at Niagara County Community College. After college he transitioned into mixed martial arts, where he became a two-time Cage Wars champion.

    Coach El began training young wrestlers with the goal of sharing the lessons the sport has given him. His commitment to developing athletes and building strong character quickly grew into a large following, leading him to establish Continuum Wrestling Club.


  • Coach LaMountain wrestled for the University at Albany under the legendary Joe DeMeo, an experience that helped shape his lifelong commitment to the sport. Since then, he has spent more than 30 years coaching throughout Section 2, working with athletes at various high schools and helping develop generations of wrestlers in the Capital Region.

    He is also the founder of New York Titan Wrestling Club, which was one of the premier training clubs in Section 2 during its time. The program produced countless Section champions, state qualifiers, state champions, and national level competitors.

    Today, Coach LaMountain serves as the head coach of the University at Albany wrestling team, where he is helping lead the effort to build momentum and bring a strong college wrestling presence back to Albany. His decades of experience and dedication to the sport continue to have a lasting impact on wrestling in the region.


  • Dom Wood began his wrestling career at Tioga High School, a powerhouse program in Section 4 known for producing high level competitors. After high school, he continued his education at the University at Albany, where he was one of the founding members of the university’s new wrestling club. During his time with the Great Danes Wrestling Club, Dom was an active leader on the team and earned team MVP honors in his final season.

    Today, Dom is building his coaching career as an assistant varsity coach at South Colonie High School. He is passionate about helping young athletes develop their skills and confidence through wrestling, and he looks forward to continuing that work with the athletes of Continuum Wrestling.


  • Jeremy Matson is a proud Schenectady wrestling alumnus and a highly respected coach in the Capital Region wrestling community. He currently serves as the varsity head coach of the Niskayuna–Schenectady wrestling program, where he has played a key role in developing competitive teams and strong athletes.

    Coach Matson has also represented the state on the national stage as a Team New York coach at the Fargo Freestyle and Greco-Roman National Championships. In recognition of his impact and leadership in the sport, he was named the National Wrestling Coaches Association 2025 Coach of the Year.


  • Jefferson LaMountain Jr. is a former standout wrestler and dedicated coach in the Section 2 wrestling community. During his competitive career, he was a three-time sectional place winner, establishing himself as a consistent and tough competitor on the mat.

    Today, Jefferson serves as an assistant coach for the Niskayuna–Schenectady wrestling program. In that role, he has helped guide the team to strong performances, including a second place finish at the Sectional Championships and a ninth place finish at the New York State Championship tournament. He is passionate about developing athletes and helping the next generation of wrestlers continue the tradition of excellence in the Capital Region.


  • Jared Frey is an assistant girls wrestling coach at Bethlehem High School and a dedicated contributor to the growth of the sport in our community. Passionate about developing athletes both on and off the mat, Jared takes pride in helping build a strong, competitive, and supportive program. He has played a key role in the development of several standout wrestlers, including his daughter, Arabella Frey. Known for his willingness to step in wherever needed, Jared brings energy, commitment, and a genuine love for coaching that continues to strengthen the foundation of Continuum Wrestling.
